# Performance engineering — Genyra

> Application performance engineering: measure the real path, find the constraint in code, data or infrastructure, fix it and prove the change with evidence.

Measure the full task, identify the bottleneck and test whether a change improves the experience.

## Name the slow operation.

A delayed screen update, long report or slow startup is a better starting point than a general complaint about speed. Record the steps, the workload and the conditions in which the delay appears.

## Make the comparison repeatable.

Use representative inputs, a known configuration and the same measurement method. Record cold and warm behaviour where it matters. A fast demonstration with prepared data is not a reliable baseline for normal operation.

## Follow the time and resources.

Profile the path across application code, database queries, storage and network calls. Check memory pressure, competing work and repeated operations. The component using the most resources is not automatically the one causing the user’s delay.

## Change the cause, not the score.

A better query, different scheduling, less copying or a revised cache can each address a specific bottleneck. Test the targeted change before combining several optimisations, so the result has an explanation.

## Check the improvement survives the workload.

Compare latency and resource use, then test longer runs, bursts and failure conditions relevant to the application. Keep regression evidence and disclose changed test conditions. We do not publish performance gains without measurements to support them.
