Technical prototypes and engineering work that test how a new capability would survive real use.

## Identify the part that might not work.

An unfamiliar interaction, a hardware constraint or an uncertain integration can determine whether an idea is practical. Isolate that risk and build the smallest useful way to examine it.

## A prototype needs a job.

Test a particular action, data path or processing task. State which parts are real and which are temporary. A demonstration using prepared data should not be mistaken for a complete operational product.

## Count the work the idea brings with it.

Consider installation, resource use, dependencies and the effort of maintaining the result. A new capability can be technically impressive while making the surrounding system harder to operate.

## Test the path beyond the demonstration.

Add real permissions, persistence, errors and updates to the investigation. Check the interfaces and deployment model before treating the prototype as a foundation for a product.

## Bring the work so far.

Existing code, sketches, test results and a description of the intended use give the discussion substance. We can identify the next experiment, an implementation architecture or a development task that removes a particular risk.
